Training for

LEAD Altar Servers

LITURGICAL MINISTRIES

We are looking for Volunteers.  If you feel called to serve in one of these important ministries, please contact Director of Liturgy and Music Amy Tolson. 

Altar Servers

​

  • Assist the priest by serving at Masses.  

  • Open to boys and girls 3rd grade and up.

  • Altar servers are fully prepared through biannual training and workshops.

 

Eucharistic Ministers

​

  • Sets up and purifies the vessels for weekend Masses.

  • Assists the priest in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ.

  • Assists celebrant when the deacon is not present.

  • Ministers must be confirmed Catholics and at least 16 years of age.

 

Mass Greeters

​

  • Greeters welcome and interact with parishioners and visitors as they arrive and leave Mass.

 

Lectors

​

  • Proclaim the Word of God, and on occasion, the Prayers of the Faithful.

  • Ministers must be confirmed Catholics and at least 16 years of age.

  • Each Lector receives a Lector’s Workbook which contains the year’s Sunday readings, and suggestions that help in their proclamation.

 

Mass Coordinator

  • Participants are invited by the Commission Chair to serve as coordinator of a specific Mass.

  • Ensures that the Mass environment is prepared: books, ciboria, chalices, bread, wine, etc.

  • Ensures that all liturgical ministers are signed in and ready to serve

 

Ushers

​

  • Assist the greeters in welcoming parishioners and seating them for Mass.

  • Assist in the weekly collection.

  • Selects gift-bearers to bring the gifts of bread, wine, and the collection baskets to the altar. 

  • Distribute bulletins after Mass.

  • Straighten up sanctuary after Mass and lock doors when necessary.

 

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

​

  • The Blessed Sacrament is exposed in the monstrance with committed adorers.

  • Adoration hours are:

    • Weekly Holy Hour Wednesday at 5:00 pm

    • First Fridays 9:00 am to 9:00 pm

    • First Saturday one hour after 8:30 am Mass

  • Prayer books are available for those who wish to use them.

  • “Hourly Captains” coordinate volunteers to serve during a specific hour.

 

Arts & Environment

​

  • Prepares an artistic enhancement to the liturgical space in keeping with the seasons of the liturgical year.

  • Organizes and stores materials.

​

 

Sacristans

​

  • Keeps the sanctuary items polished, cleaned and in good repair for all liturgical celebrations in the church.

  • Maintains linens, vestments, albs, candles, carpets, and altar.
