Donations

"Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers
or sisters of mine, you did for me." (Matt. 25:31-46)

Multiple ways exist to help St. Vincent De Paul and those that we serve.  Contributions of money, vehicles, food, and household items are tax deductible.  For monetary donations, a statement is sent out at the end of the calendar for tax purposes.  If you would like a receipt for food donations, please save your receipts and contact St. Vincent De Paul.  For household items, a receipt is given on-site at the St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store.

Money

Monetary contributions may be made by inserting cash or check into the monthly church envelopes distributed to parishioners for the collection basket, or by mail (checks only through the mail, please).  Please make checks payable to St. Vincent de Paul.  No gift is too small.  Our mailing address is:

St. Vincent de Paul
1055 Hughes Road
Madison, AL 35758

One-time or recurring monetary donations may also be given electronically through the church's new Online Giving Program.

Vehicles

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. John's participated in the SVdP National Vehicle Donation Program.  The process is easy, and best of all, proceeds from the vehicle come right back to our SVdP here at St. John's.  You may fill out the online form or call 1-800-322-8284.  Your vehicle will be picked up within 24 hours if donated on a weekday, possibly longer on the weekend.  The SVdP National Vehicle Donation Program will fill out all of the tax forms and send them to you.  That's it!

Food

Donations of non-perishable food items and paper products (paper towels, toilet paper) may be made at the church.  The collection point for food is at the St. Vincent De Paul cart, located next to the church gift shop in the Gathering Space at the back of the church.

For families with young children - typically children who have not yet made their First Communion - there is an opportunity to take food items up to a basket by the altar during the Offertory of each Mass.

Household Items

Donations of gently-used household items, clothing, appliances, furniture, and other goods are accepted at the St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store.  PLEASE REFRAIN FROM BRINGING HOUSEHOLD ITEMS TO THE CHURCH.   On occasion, we will host the St. Vincent de Paul truck here at the parish.  We will announce those occasions in advance.

The St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store is located at 2140 Jonathan Drive, Huntsville, AL 35810.  Click here for directions from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church to the SVDP Thrift Store.  Their phone number is 256-851-8881.  Store hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 9 AM to 4 PM.  Pickup service is available if arranged in advance.

Time

Anyone who is willing to lend a hand is welcome to join the Society.  Even a few hours of your time are very precious to the needy and distressed.  There are several types of membership, so joining the Society at a level of obligation that you feel comfortable with is easy!  For details, please see our Membership Section (coming soon!).

If membership is not right for you at this point in time, there are still opportunities throughout the year to assist us in our Mission.  Every year, we seek assistance from our parishioners to collect and box food during food drives, as well as delivering gifts to the needy before Christmas.  These opportunities are popular with teens in the parish to accumulate service hours.

Let us use our gifts and talents to serve the Lord and one another!
